Generational conflict in the workplace is nothing new. Even the “phenomenon” (the quotes are ironic) that there are distinct generations working side by side today – baby boomers, Gen X and Gen Y – is old news. Attitudes and approaches to work overlap and diverge depending, to some extent, on one’s age. That’s common sense. You wear headphones all day; your supervisor doesn’t. Whatever. So it should come as no surprise that the range of ways colleagues adapt to and use new technologies in the workplace is both a potential flashpoint and bridge builder between generations. Duncan Kinney is the resident type pusher around these parts. As the web editor for Venture Publishing, he’s in charge of a cadre of growing online brands. Before joining the team, he was a freelance photographer and web editor and worked on various film and television projects.
