It’d be remiss not to give a shout out to former editor Dan Rubinstein, now at Canadian Geographic for his keen eye and skilled guidance. Oh, and our sister publication, Alberta Venture, is our competitor for Magazine of the Year and Malwina Gudowska got a nod for her Alberta Venture story 20 Skills Every Boss Should Know.
A quick kudos for writer-musician Kris Demeanor, who won the Best New Magazine Writer nod from the National Magazine Awards.

And Lisa Gregoire was nominated in the Personal Finance & Business category for her feature “Generation Debt.” That award will be handed out in early June in Toronto.

It’s March and it’s snowing, so it must be awards season in Medialand. Unlimited is among those being honoured. UL’s founding editor, Dan Rubinstein, was given the top nod at the Alberta Magazines Conference this past week.
San Francisco photographer and UL contributor Melissa Kaseman, who photographed Canadian marketing whiz Tara Hunt for our Comings and Goings issue, has just been given a 30 under 30 honour by the prestigious American group Photo District News.

Duncan Kinney is the resident type pusher around these parts. As the web editor for Venture Publishing, he’s in charge of a cadre of growing online brands. Before joining the team, he was a freelance photographer and web editor and worked on various film and television projects.
Jeff Lewis is a relative newcomer to blogging. His first job was at a small-town newspaper in northern Alberta, where he frequently penned odes to quilting fairs and tractor shows. He has written for Design Edge Canada and Quill and Quire magazines, following the completion of a post-grad journalism program in Toronto.
